What Is LiR?

Learning in Retirement QV is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization offering educational programs and social opportunities for adults who love learning.

Learning in Retirement - Quinebaug Valley (LiR QV) provides the means for adults to pursue a wide range of interests, whether exploring new topics or revisiting interests from the past. Our programs and short courses are designed to stimulate the mind and provide a quality social environment in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

LiR QV is an independent, self-governing, non-profit membership organization. Formed in 1994 with 120 original charter members, membership has grown steadily and now stands at over 300 individuals. Programs are offered in the fall, winter, and spring.

• Morning programs: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

• Afternoon programs: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Membership and Fees

Membership is open to all. A $25 Membership/Registration Fee is required once per semester and allows you to register for any or all of the programs offered during that semester. Registration automatically includes membership. Each semester there may also be free programs, seminars, and socials available to members.

Please make checks payable to Learning in Retirement QV and include the member's name on the check or with the payment. If someone else is sending the payment on your behalf, please be sure to include the member's name so we can match the payment to the correct registration.

You will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your registration responses after submitting the online program registration form. Please save this email for your records.

Weather Closing

LiR QV will follow the Killingly Public Schools schedule when determining whether to cancel a program due to weather.

• If Killingly Public Schools are closed for the day due to weather, there will be no LiR QV programs.

• If Killingly Public Schools have an early dismissal due to weather, any 1:00 PM LiR QV program will be cancelled.

Killingly Public School cancellations and dismissals can be heard on WINY 1350 AM radio and most Connecticut television news networks. Cancellation notices can be found on the Killingly Public Schools website at www.killinglyschools.org.

• At the discretion of the presenter, a make-up day may be arranged due to a schedule disruption.
