What Is LiR?

Learning in Retirement QV is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization offering educational programs and social opportunities for adults who love learning.

Learning in Retirement - Quinebaug Valley (LiR QV) provides the means to meet the wide range of interests for mature adults who want to pursue new topics or to revisit interests from the past. Our programs and short courses are designed to stimulate the mind and provide a quality social environment in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

LiR QV is an independent, self-governing, non-profit membership organization. Formed in 1994 with 120 original charter members, membership has grown steadily and now stands at over 300 individuals. Courses and programs are held in the fall, winter, and spring.

Membership and Fees

Membership is open to all. A Registration Fee will be charged to enroll in any or all of the individual programs offered during each semester. Registration for the semester’s programs automatically includes membership. Each semester there may also be free programs, seminars, and socials for anyone who is a member.

Weather Closing

LiR QV will align whether it cancels a program with Killingly Public Schools.

• If Killingly Public Schools are closed for the day due to weather, then there will be NO LiR QV programs.

• If Killingly Public Schools has an early dismissal due to weather and there is a 1 pm program, that 1 pm class will be cancelled.

Killingly Public School cancellations and dismissals can be heard on WINY 1350 AM radio and most Connecticut television news networks. Cancellation notices can be found on the Killingly Public Schools website at www.killinglyschools.org.

• At the discretion of the presenter, a make-up day may be arranged due to a schedule disruption.
